There is a lot of significant words associated with the word women. A woman is a mother. A woman is a sister. A woman is a wife. A woman is a friend. She is a leader too! For some of us, a woman is a goddess. She is the one who can destroy evil.

However, how much do we value women in real estate? If she is the goddess, why is the number of women decreasing in some parts of the world? Why is the number of cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, etc. increasing day by day? Though a woman is worshipped once a year, she is exploited brutally each day of the year.

The worst part is that a woman is not only exploited in her house, she is also exploited in the world outside. In this blog, we will see some of the challenges she has to face in the real estate sector.

Problems of Women in Real Estate Sectors

A single woman might face difficulty while buying a house: Yes, it is a brutal truth. A single woman faces several problems while she wishes to buy a real estate property. Suppose, you are a single woman. You have to shift to some XYZ town because of your job. You will need a place to stay. You might have to show several documents to prove your identity. Such a horrible experience! But if you go with your parents or any male member of your family, there is a high possibility that you might be treated in a very different manner.
Women might face hurdles while starting their own business: Though this is 2022, women have reached the space. However, a woman has proved herself, still, your capabilities might be questioned by others when you try to stand on your own. In a typical Indian society, marriage becomes the ultimate goal for a woman. She is hardly allowed to think beyond that. So, when you try to think out of the box, you will be highly criticized. Thus, when you belong to a middle-class Indian family, and you try to start your own business, there is a high possibility that your capability will be questioned.
A woman is given little space for being a leader: As discussed in the previous point, a woman might face difficulty while starting a business. Thus, we can say that she is given a limited opportunity for being a leader, both in her home and her workplace. Her confidence is shattered. Her dreams are destroyed. Look around. How many independent women do you find?
Unequal opportunities and wages: This is not new. Since the very past, we have seen cases where women are revolting because of the wage she is being paid. A woman is paid less than her male counterpart in the office. She is not given opportunities to explore herself too. Thus, this becomes a hindrance in her path of progress.
Safety is a big question mark: The safety and security of a woman in her workspace is a thing that is questioned. Unwanted advances from the male members of her office, clients, etc. are being reported regularly. Even undesirable messages or emails is a thing of great concern for women in the real estate sector.

Some of the Steps That Might Be Taken

There are many problems that a woman faces. Go to any woman, she will have a new problem to share with you. But will things never change? The answer is, yes! The days are changing! Now, a woman is capable of speaking on her own. She can claim her rights. She can be independent. But each one of us has to change our mindset. We need to value each woman. So, how can you overcome these above-mentioned problems? There are ways. Let’s have a look!

An environment that is open-minded and productive will help the woman to work freely and confidently in her office. Thus, she will have new ideas, which, in turn, will help the real estate industry in the long run.

A woman has to be trusted. Her capabilities have to be relied upon in the workplace. If that is done then women will become more confident. She will be able to work properly.

Further, proper mentorship is needed. Seminars, pieces of training, workshops, etc. might be organised to educate them. If they remain updated, they will help the real estate industry a lot.

The world is changing at a face pace, so is the real estate industry. Though women might be given equal space everywhere, in reality, the picture might be somewhat different. We cannot change the world in a day. However, small steps should be taken. They matter a lot!
