Delhi is the capital of India and several Indians just dream to live in the capital city of Delhi. According to the Census of India, 2011 it is the second most populous metropolitan city in the country. Delhi has a rich history of culture which played the role of capital of many major empires, such as the Delhi Sultanate, Mughal Empire, etc.

Being the capital of India it serves the role of a major cultural, political and commercial hub of the country. The citizens of Delhi enjoyed several attractable facilities which hold them tightly in the location of Delhi. The facilities available in Delhi attracted a lot of people about living in Delhi.

According to experts, being the capital city of India, there are plenty of opportunities for people in Delhi. The people of Delhi are commonly considered to be very large-hearted which is reflected through the prevalent phrase i.e. “Dilwalon ki Dilli”.

Although the capital city Delhi is considered to be one of the finest as well as the fast-growing city in India, it has some specific drawbacks too which in many cases discourage people from living in Delhi. In this blog, we are mainly going to discuss the pros and cons of living in Delhi.

  4. Global exposure: Being the capital city of India there is a lot number of foreigners in Delhi and therefore you will receive the chance of global exposure in Delhi.
  5. Good education: A number of India’s famous leading educational institutions such as – the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, IIT, IIM, NIFT, etc. are located in Delhi.
  6. Good Hospital: The overall hospital facilities of Delhi is quite good.
  7. Good public transport: Every portion of Delhi is connected by a good transport network and thus reflected overall good transport.
  8. High internet: The average internet speed in Delhi is quite high.
  9. Low living cost: The living cost in Delhi is low compared to many other Indian cities.
  10. Democratic: Delhi is quite democratic.
  11. Easy to make friends: In Delhi, it is comparatively easy to make friends.
  12. Presence of good hotels and restaurants: if you are a food lover then Delhi is suitable for you. There are many famous veg and non-veg restaurants in Delhi.
  13. A lot of vacation destinations: In Delhi, there are many historical as well as vacation destinations places.
  14. A number of entertainment options: Delhi provides you with plenty of entertainment options.
  15. Good administration: Being the capital city of India the overall administration system of Delhi is quite good.
  16. High job opportunities: The overall job opportunities in Delhi are quite high.

Cons of Living in Delhi

Although living in Delhi is considered as lucky to most Indians but there are some cons also about living in Delhi, such as

  1. High pollution: Delhi is one of the most polluted cities in the country. High pollution levels are a severe problem for the citizens of Delhi. Although several steps have been taken to reduce the pollution level, it has not satisfactorily reduced pollution level, therefore, the daily life of the people of Delhi is hampered by its high pollution level and many citizens of Delhi are affected by many diseases due to its high pollution especially air pollution.
  2. Weather: The weather in Delhi represents too hot during summer and too cold during winter. The temperature of Delhi crosses around 45ºC during summer and during winter it is recorded below 4ºC.
  3. High traffic jam: The high traffic jam in Delhi is quite problematic for its citizens.
  4. Women’s safety is quite low: Women’s safety in Delhi is still quite low.
  5. Feel crowdedness: Being the second most populous city in India you may feel crowdedness in Delhi.
  6. Low greenery: The overall greenery cover in Delhi is not satisfactory.

In Summary

After the above discussion, in conclusion, we can easily say that the number of advantages of living in Delhi is quite higher than the disadvantages. Therefore, living in Delhi no doubt will bring many opportunities for you.
