Your Bright Future with real-time APIs

Introduction

Application Programming Interface (API) generally refers to the connection between computer programs. It also helps to connect several computers.

APIs is simply a software interface that offers services to other software. It makes the process of software development easier and innovative through the exchange of data and functionality. Here the process of exchanging data and functionality between software is done in secure and easier ways.

APIs enable various companies to exchange their data and functionality with various external third parties like other business partners, developers, etc. Further, data and functionality can also be exchanged within various departments of a particular company. The interesting part is that the developers don’t require to know the detailed implementation process of an API; they simply use this interface to communicate with various products as well as services.

Examples of API include the use of any application in your phone like Facebook, sending a message or even checking the status of weather through your mobile application, etc.

Why do we need real-time APIs?

  • Improved collaboration among companies or departments through integration
  • Easier to make innovations
  • Monetization of data
  • Provides security
  • Makes business easier and hassle-free
  • Shortest/Real-time experience between producer and subscriber

What are real-time APIs?

Real-time APIs are nothing but those APIs that can process an API call in less than 30 milliseconds. Real-time APIs provides the users with the real-time feeling experience as it processes data very quickly, i.e., below 30 ms. It tries to minimise the time between producers and subscribers.

Real-time APIs provide quick response to the subscribers; hence, they feel real-time experience while using APIs. It provides a satisfactory digital experience to its users.

Examples of real-time APIs include online shopping, use of Google Maps, using various transport applications etc.

At present, several popular web applications would not have possibly functioned well without the application of real-time APIs. This highlights the importance of real-time APIs! The concept of the digital world would not have been possible without the successful implementation of real-time APIs. This indicates that our future would be largely dependent on the implementation of real-time APIs.

The implementation of real-time APIs helps to create and store a huge amount of real-time data. Moreover, with the implementation of real-time APIs, we may receive various significant solutions to real-world problems. Implementation of real-time APIs may bring a brighter and sustainable future for us.

The real-time APIs provides the opportunity to collect, store and analyse real-time data on an unimaginable scale which successfully provides solutions to our problems. There are many sectors where the implementation of real-time APIs would make things easier in future.

Therefore, the implementation of real-time APIs would be increased soon. I have also mentioned a few fields where the real-time APIs are/can be used.

  • Weather Forecasting: Forecasting of weather is a classic example of the implementation of real-time APIs. Nowadays we receive weather forecasting information through a mobile app just because real-time API is used. This has made life easier. Further, it has a major role to play in preventing the loss of lives (as we get to know about the weather beforehand) and waste of resources.
  • Travel and tourism: The sector of travel and tourism is largely dependent on the successful implementation of various real-time APIs. You can get several real-time information with the help of real-time APIs. You can route your travel to new places accordingly. So, let go of the traditional guides and explore the world yourself!
  • Transport sector: Implementation of real-time APIs appears to be very important in transport sectors too. We get to know our exact location, speed of transport medium (car, train, bus etc.), identify the best route for a destination, etc. All these things are possible because of real-time API. The application of Google Maps is a good example of this! With the change or improvement in transport medium and route, the application of real-time APIs will also be increased in the near future.
  • Digital Marketing: The world is getting digitalized day by day and this promotes digital marketing also. With the increase of digitalization, the implementation of real-time APIs will also increase in future. Man is so busy nowadays. Thus, the trend to use applications like Amazon, Flipkart, Nayka, etc. has increased to a great extent.
  • Disaster management: The implementation of real-time APIs helps reduce loss of life and resources and provides planning for disaster management.
  • Communications and globalization: Today’s world is globalized. You can easily communicate to anyone throughout the globe at any time with the use of various APIs. Applications like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. use real-time APIs. You have experienced the importance of online communicating applications in the pandemic situation! Various discussions that could not be held in your office/home had taken place via online mode.

Conclusion

I hope I have been able to explain the importance of real-time APIs. We can say that our future is largely based on the successful implementation of various real-time APIs. The successful implementation of APIs in future will make our life hassle-free, easier and globalized. Even solutions to various problems at various levels of our life largely depend on the implementation of real-time APIs!
