What is Tehsildar?

Tehsildars in Indian State are prestigious officials responsible for maintaining all land and revenue records of the tehsil they are appointed to manage. 

The tehsildar is responsible to obtain and keep track of land revenue, canal revenue, and other dies of the government. He is also responsible for the execution of all the duties as described by the government at regular period of time.

A patwari is someone who works under the tehsildar and are also responsible to manage all the land records and maintaining the records in the office. The multiple villages can be managed by patwari. One tehsildar is responsible for multiple patwaris.
