What Are Some of the Myths About Metaverse?

Sujan Afi S

“…and they lived happily after ever.”

Common line, right? We often have listened to stories of kings and emperors, fairies and superheroes from our elder ones. We have also listened to several mythological tales of devs and devis, their miracles and much more. We have listened to folklores.

We loved to listen to those stories. Why? Because they made us relate to a world in which we want to belong. However, we knew and we know that the world of stories and myths is imaginary. It can never be true!

Similarly, in real life, we have certain myths. The virtual world too has certain myths. Like, we tend to believe that the virtual world is bad. Our elders ask us to stay away from the digital world. We have several myths. Likewise, we have several myths related to the world of the metaverse.

In this blog, we will look at a few myths related to the metaverse. So, let’s get into it!

Top Myths Related to Metaverse

The World of Metaverse is a World of Games. It Hardly Has Any Use in Real Life

It looks as if that metaverse is a gaming platform. But this is wrong. Nowadays, several companies and others are using this platform to interact with their clients. For instance, companies like Prager Metis and PricewaterhouseCoopers have metaverse branches.

In this way, they are contacting the customers with whom they have never contacted before. Thus, the income generated is increasing day by day! So, do you think that metaverse is just about games?

This Metaverse is going to be far more pervasive and powerful than anything else. If one central company gains control of this, they will become more powerful than any government and be a god on Earth.

Metaverse is Going to Fade Away. It Will Not Last Long

This is a very common belief of several individuals. And, I respect their feelings. Why? Because there are people who are not accustomed to the virtual world. Some people still believe in the warmth of letters and a cup of ‘adrak wali chai’. For that group of people, it is tough to accept the virtual world and the technicalities.

But the truth is something else!

We have the Second Life metaverse platform, established in 2003 and is still getting active operators. A large number of people are buying and selling metaverse real estate via that platform. So, the metaverse is not going to fade away.

Metaverse Can Only Be Accessed if You Wear a Virtual Helmet

Yes, metaverse indeed has platforms where you have to wear virtual helmets and other gadgets to get access, nevertheless, most popular platforms, like The Sandbox or Decentraland can be accessed using a laptop or PC or Smartphone!

So, you don’t have to have a virtual helmet to get access to the world of the metaverse. Chill!

The World of Metaverse is Suitable for Everything

It is beyond doubt that metaverse is becoming extremely popular among people, especially the young generation. It is much more than a simple gaming platform.

Daily a huge number of people are meeting and interacting there. You can converse, share opinions, do shopping, play games, etc. But you have to admit that you cannot do everything on that platform.

Metaverse is Next to a Heaven on Earth

I admit that you can have several advantages if you be a part of the metaverse. It allows us to generate a huge amount of money. It gives us a space to share our opinions and appreciate the values of others.

But think the other way. Is it safe? Is the platform ensuring our privacy? Are we not getting too busy to interact with the people we can’t see? Are we not ignoring the ones around us? So, the metaverse is not a heaven on earth. It is also isolating us from our surroundings and our near and dear ones.

In a Nutshell

Well, I hope that I have been able to demystify some of the commonly held beliefs about metaverse. Still, if you have any doubt, please feel free to drop a mail at info@roodland.com.

We understand that the concept is a bit novel and it needs much clarity. We will try to do that. So, do not hesitate. Let’s begin the conversation!
