Introduction

The Gaumukhi plots and the Shermukhi plots are probably two of the most commonly heard terms between those who are interested in buying land in India.

The choice of a plot or parcel of land is as important as choosing a spouse to spend a lifetime with.

According to the definition, Gaumukhi plots are those that are narrower at the front and wider at the back.

& Those plots that are narrower at the back and wider at the front are known as Shermukhi plots.

Vastu Shastra principles clearly state that you should stay away from plots which are shaped oval, irregularly, or even circular or triangular. In general, plots located in close proximity to major religious sites and also near industries/factories are two types of plots that should not be selected.

Gaumukhi plots are generally seen as the best option for purchase while Shermukhi plots may indicate more confusion and may not always bring happiness. Consequently, the latter may not always bring prosperity like the former.

Gaumukhi plots

Gaumukhi plots are excellent for residential purposes, especially if they have access to roads on their western and southern sides. However, they are not suitable for commercial purposes. According to Vaastu Shastra, these plots can be used for residential purposes.

Shermukhi plots

Shermukh plots are considered to be better for commercial development compared with their Gaumukh plots.
