Tips to Get Your House Monsoon Ready

  1. Check the outside and inside of your house: It is always good to have a thorough investigation of both the outside and the inside of the house before the rainy season sets in. Please check if there is any crack or leakage or any irregularities through which water might seep in. If water seeps in, it might cause unnecessary trouble. It might also destroy your valuable items like wooden furniture. Thus, it is better to be cautious beforehand.
  1. Check the electric wiring of your house: Water is a good conductor of electricity. So, check whether there is any leakage or any damage in the electric wiring of your house. If there is any problem, call an electrician to fit it immediately. A small step can save you from a short circuit or any other major problem. Thus, it is always good to do the needful at the right time.
  1. Waterproof painting: Try to check if there is any leakage in any parts/corners in the roof or terrace or any other place. You might provide a coating of waterproof painting to protect your house from further damage. This type of painting works miracles for the outer walls and prevents water seepage.
  1. Clean the drains: Make sure that the drains around your house are clean. Why? Else they might cause unnecessary hazards. If there is any solid waste then the water might flow out of the drain. This will make the place dirtier.
  1. Protect the wooden furniture: Wooden furniture are the one that gets affected during the monsoon season. Try to protect them from the raindrops. For instance, you can shift your wooden cupboard to any other part of the room instead of keeping that besides the window. Thus, the cupboard gets saved!
  1. Try to clean the carpets and rugs regularly: We know that the air carries a lot of moisture during the rainy season. Thus, the rugs and carpets of your house might become moist. If you clean and dry them regularly then you can avoid the foul smell that might come from the carpets!
  1. Ensure good ventilation: As the air remains moist, the damp places become a breeding ground for germs. Thus, ensure good ventilation in your house to avoid the breeding of germs and diseases! Thus, make sure that your house is built in such a way that all the rooms get enough fresh air and sunlight. In this way, you can have a healthy atmosphere inside your house!
  1. Have home insurance: Though our house is one of the prized possessions that we have, we tend to forget to opt for home insurance even if we know how much important it is. Make sure that you have all-covering home insurance to protect your house from any damage caused during the rainy seasons (or any other time of the year.
