You might have come across the various words like Bigha, Square Feet, Square Yards, Hectare, etc while dealing with the purchasing or selling the land or the property. In order to understand the different variations and conversions of the units of measurement, we have learned to measure a bit about some of the units, like square feet, square meters to hectare, without which it is impossible to measure land or property.

The following are a few of the common land measurement units

Square Meters

Square meter is one of the most commonly used units to measure large parcels of land, rooms, or houses. Also known as the square meter and represented by m2, it is primarily used to measure areas.

1 sq.m = 10.76 sq. ft = 1.19 square yards = 0.0001 hectare

Hectare

A Hectare is used to measure the area of land. When the area of land must be measured in large amounts, this unit comes into use. The symbol for Hectare is “Ha”.

1 Hectare= 1,07,639 sq.ft

1 Sq.ft= 9.290 Hectare

Square Yards

The Government of India requires, for measuring square yards, the rate of an area to be measured in (the amount in Rs.) per square yard.

1 sq.yard = 9 sq.ft = 8.361 hectare

Square Feet

Particularly for properties in the real estate sector, this unit of measurement is referred to as Square feet. This unit comes into play when we have to calculate or understand how much space the property has.

1 Sq.ft = 9.290 hectare.
