Just recently in covid-19 era people were stuck in houses and couldn’t move out of their homes for fresh air. The balcony is the only option where people can sit in a covered or semi-covered area.

People realised the value of cross ventilation, open spaces, and balconies in apartments become a focus area in urban cities. Thus, a balcony is considered a luxury.

It plays an important role in the home purchase process. The modern home design considers balconies as an extension of living space and impacts the quality of lifestyle. 

Basically the balcony is projecting out from the wall of a building, usually above the ground floor. It is an extended platform on the outside of a building enclosed by brick masonry and or railing, supported by columns or a cantilever. The Advantages of a Balcony

Enlarge living space: It is an extended part of a living area or bedroom room area. Everybody can’t afford an apartment with high cost because balcony design in a unit is adding value to the unit hence prices go high in urban areas.

View from balcony: Everyone loves to spend time in an outdoor area, amid greenery and nature. But due to busy lifestyles, people don’t get time to go to the garden. Balcony, therefore, plays an important part in residential architecture.

Connect with the outside world: A balcony connecting with the outside world, with nature, and with it gives a chance to enjoy the serene sunrise, and sunset, soak in the sunshine and fresh air, it gives a delighted panoramic view of surroundings with changing seasons.

Memories: The balcony is a cheerful space of a residence, balconies witness memories of love, laughter, fun, and frolic. It is a perfect palace for an outdoor workout and spending some quality time with your family. It is a happy space at home to get rid of your stress.

Better place for a meal: Having breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, and coffee on the balcony is the best option when the weather is good. And enjoy a nice atmosphere with flowers and decorations.

Place for reading and relaxing: Balcony furniture gives a comfortable area for reading books and relaxing.

Storage: Balcony somewhere also acts as extra storage. Due to small compact unit storage space it is not possible to design in units. Then some extra stuff can be stored on the balcony.

A place to grow flowers and vegetables: Depending on the size of the balcony. It is the best place to grow flowers and fresh vegetables. The green balcony acts as a traditional balcony. 

Attractive: A unit with a balcony is more attractive than a unit without a balcony. It’s adding value at selling time and rental time.

The Disadvantage of a Balcony

Maintanance: It is an extra living space mostly open to the environment so it becomes difficult to manage every time for cleaning. It is also a question of security for children and pets If the balcony is not protected with a strong brick wall and railing.

Balcony is a necessity. The balcony can have effects that ultimately affect the quality of life at home, it’s worth having homeowners need to be meticulous when it comes to their home features. Choose houses with features that can help you to live a better life.
